The 12 volts of power from your car battery are boosted to about 20,000 volts by a ballast, or transformer. This electrical energy then jumps a gap of about three-fourths of an inch between two probes in your headlights, forming an electrical arc that yields very intense light.
| Krypton Lamp Facts With an hid lamp, an improper connection will cause the light to go out should the voltage drop below the level regulated by the ballast. Recreational and exploration divers are in agreement that the 10watt hid lamp is our best all-around performer. When we send power to the relay with the headlamp switch, the relay completes a circuit between the the battery or alternator positive ( ) terminal and the headlamps.
